Using the PeerSpirit Circling as outlined by Christina Baldwin in"Calling The Circle". Our Program Director and Circle Facilitator introduced the concept of CIRCLE and sacred space to program participants.
Calling The Circle
We began each meeting with defining our group and the sacred space that holds our intention. You could feel everyone become more present and grounded as the deep vibration of our bell resonated. After a few weeks, girls asked if they could recite our opening statements, which they all had committed to memory.
We passed our talking stick and girls shared their thoughts, We practiced active listening and patience as the talking stick circled the group.
We then introduced our Topic and Volunteer Presenter of the day and asked girls to consider how this practice related to self care, community, sense of place and purpose.
So many fabulous presenters shared their time and talent, We give special thanks to Heather Munro of Altar Movement Studio (yoga), Suzan Der Drake of Gallop Tribe (Belly Dance) and Erin Corra ( Naturalist) from Lime Kiln State Park. For their generosity and commitment to our mentorship program.
Finally we shared parting inspiration for the coming week and respectfully closed our circle.
